Singham Returns Movie Review
First things first…. I am a huge fan of Singham and watch every time it shows on TV. Ajay Devgan has perfectly portrayed the Bajirao Singham in the first movie. I am also a huge fan of Rohit Shetty and especially his films like Singham and Chennai Express. But Singham returns is bit of a disappointment and after watching the movie “Aata majhi satakli.”
Bajirao Singham is the same old supercop just his girlfriend has been changed. So now Singham is posted in Mumbai and one of his admirer colleague constable Mahesh has been found dead in an ambulance with 10 crore Rs. Everybody calls Mahesh a dishonest cop but Singham believes he is innocent. And then he starts a search of his murders which leads him to a sadhu baba (Amol Gupte) and a corrupt politician (Zakir Hussain). There is a character called Guruji portrayed by Anupam Kher which resembles to Anna Hazare.
Its an usual Rohit Shetty action where Singham is killing hundreds of gangsters and burning flying cars and his pet dialog Aata Majhi Satakli. Like any other Rohit Shetty movie there is Marathi in abundance. The most interesting character is Daya from CID who is also named Daya and interestingly he doesn’t repeat dialogs of Singham as he does with ACP Pradyumna. 🙂 I was waiting for a dialog whole movie and at the end Singham orders him “Daya darwaza tod do” 😀
The plot is very weak. The characters don’t gel together as they were in Singham. Ajay Devgan is great though. Other characters just roam around the frame without a purpose most of the times. Kareena Kapoor is just a wax doll. The skills of Mahesh Manjrekar and Pankaj Tripathi were not used to fullest by Rohit Shetty.
Yusnus Sajawal has a woven a loose screenplay. Sajid-Farhad have written some good dialogs (much better than their own movie Its Entertainment) like ‘Sher atank machata hai, ghayal sher tabaahi,’ Singham tells one of the gundas. Music isn’t very appealing also except the Honey Singh song Aata Majhi Satakli.
Now the big question… is it watchable? The answer is yes. If you like action and little bit of comedy then you can give it a try.
