Is Riteish Deshmukh An Underrated Star?
It was 2003 afternoon and I was planning to watch a movie, asked my friends which one should I watch and someone asked me to go for “Tujhe Meri Kasam” and I was like ok the new boy film..? But then we friends decided to give it a shot. As I was studying that time we all instantly loved a college boy’s romantic comedy. Ritesh was like a lightning in the movie. Couple of my friends had crush on Genelia and all the girls on Riteish. I also loved him ( but never had crush on him,…. I am straight guys 🙂 ) Then I started watching all of his films as a diehard fan including not so popular Out Of Control, Naach, Bardaasht,…. I didn’t like the movies but loved Riteish’s job. But I never like his films like Masti and Grand Masti. I am really amazed, why a fine actor has worked in these films? The movies made tons of money but then one loses his credibility.
From the very first day I knew Riteish was a star. He has all the qualities of a star. He has given fantastic performances in movies like Bluffmaster. In my personal opinion In Bluffmaster Riteish has overshadowed Abhishek Bacchan. But I don’t understand why he always go for comedy movies only. He has much more potential than doing just comedy. Ek Villain has already proved it. Critics like Anupama Chopra and Rajeev Masand are very hard to please and they have praised Ritesih’s performance. His latest marathi film “Lai Bhaari” has broke all the box office records and even after 4 weeks its still in theaters and running full shows. Lai Bhaari has collected more than 35 crore Rs and the best part is its his home production.
I must state that Riteish has a great taste for art. He has done what ever roles he was offered but as a producer he hasn’t made a single mistake. As a producer first he made “Balak Palak-BP” which was a comedy-drama film based on s*x education. Its a very difficult subject and Riteish produced it. Its a fantastic film and he deserves a huge applause for making way for film maker who want to tackle different subjects. When you make something from your heart it always pays. As a producer both his films BP and Lai Bhaari payed Riteish what he deserves…. appreciation. I always feel that Ritesh is really an underrated star and he deserves much more than he gets.
I know there is a huge potential in this man and someday I would love to work with him.
